We are working for you!

The Alliance Board is hard at work planning, promoting and executing many activities throughout the year. Since its inception in 2016, the Alliance’s main goal was to plan and produce PRIDE celebrations during the month of June. Over the past two years, the current board has been extending programming throughout the rest of the calendar year.

Board Members

  • Alex Baccaro, Co-Chair

    Alex Baccaro moved to Rossmoor in 2009 with Becky, his life partner of 37 years. Prior to coming out as a transgender man 2021, Alex lived as an out lesbian all his adult life. He has always worked toward equality and social justice for women, people of color and the LGBTQ+ community. Alex spent the first 20 years of his career as a professional trumpet player and teacher. He was most impacted by being principal trumpet of the Women’s Philharmonic and working with low-income students as a trumpet teacher and college advisor. He can be seen most days somewhere in Rossmoor with his wonderful dog Moxie.

  • Darryl Wong, Co-Chair

    Darryl moved to Rossmoor in 2023 and hit the ground running. He immediately joined the board of the Alliance and became an invaluable member. Darryl is retired from the NewYork City Department of Health where he was an HIV/AIDS Treatment & Care Strategic Community Planner. Darryl lives with his husband, Michael, of 40 years and is an avid cook. He also serves on the Emergency Preparedness Board at Rossmoor.

  • Leese Courington, Secretary

    Leese Courington joined the board shortly after relocating to Rossmoor from Oakland in late 2022. A retired civil servant, she’s worked in the UC system and in the State of California as both a Planner and Technical writer. Leese also serves as the Secretary of the Rossmoor Writers Group. A step-grandparent and soon to be step-great-grandparent, she lives in Rossmoor with her wife, Christy, of over 30 years, and their rescue dog Zoë. An avid second-hand shopper, Leese enjoys exploring the many charitable shops and thrift stores in the Walnut Creek region and beyond. 

  • Phillip Bollinger, Treasurer

    Phillip Bollinger moved to Rossmoor in 2020 in the midst of the COVID lockdown. He continued to work for Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute from home. Gradually able to return to work on site a few days a week to assist with the merger with UCSF Medical Center. Retired from Children’s after 20 years working in Information systems. He has also worked at John Muir Medical Center, Summit Medical Center and (then) Mt Diablo Medical Center. Phillip loves to travel and is usually on the road to somewhere on the bucket list.

  • Linda Stephens, Membership Chair

    Linda moved to California in 1989 for a job with B of A after being a Mortgage Banking software trainer in Dallas for several years.  Nine years later she was transferred to Charlotte, NC & got her first Real State License.   While on a vacation in Maui, she decided to stay, got Real Estate License #2, became an Interfaith Minister, owned a Wedding Business, and was a Board member for her church.  Five years later she moved back to California and in 2011 moved to Rossmoor.  After seeing an ad in the Rossmoor News about a Lesbian Social Club she volunteered right away.  In 2013 she got Real Estate License #3!  Who knew a “Retirement Job” would be so much fun!!!  In 2016 the LGBTQ+ Alliance was created…and life is great!!!!!

  • Tracy Jones, Assistant Editor, BOLD Magazine

    Tracy Jones is a native San Franciscan who spent several years teaching school in remote villages of Southeast Alaska. These experiences led her to complete her first Dual-Masters degree in Special Education and Early Childhood Education for children with special needs.  Years later she returned for a third graduate degree and Ed.S. in School Psychology. This combination of skills and experience made School Psychology an especially rewarding final career for Tracy.  Now retired,Tracy has dived into her passion for Rossmoor’s Quilting Group, expanding her letter writing and postcard writing practice, establishing book groups, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community in Rossmoor. She and her beloved partner, Cynthia Davis married 33-years ago in their Unitarian Universalist Church. Wherever Tracy can be found she is known for creating friendships, community, and sustaining connections of meaning and depth.

  • Kristen Lee

    Kristen grew up in Orinda and is a third generation Rossmoorian as her (Snow Birds from New York) grandparents had a place on Skycrest and her mom was an original owner in Eagle Ridge. Kristen bought her mom’s place during the pandemic and retired from being a Palo Alto middle school Teacher Librarian in June, 2025 after having been a Palo Alto educator since 1989. Kristen was her middle school’s GSA Club Advisor (and founding staff member), and she is thrilled to join the Rossmoor LGBTQ+ Alliance as its first ally board member. She is passionate about education and advocacy and besides the LGBTQ+ Alliance, she is the Welcome Committee Chair of Mutual 68. In her non-leadership time she bakes, reads, knits, square dances, line dances,  plays pickleball, works out at the Fitness Center, does qigong with the Chinese American Association of Rossmoor, participates in Democrats of Rossmoor activities and watches KDramas and CDramas. Most of all, she loves traveling, eating vegetarian food from all different cultures, and spending time with her daughter Sondrine, her son Austin, and her sisters Laurel and Erika.

  • Journey deVries

    Journey moved to Rossmoor in 2023.  They heard about the Alliance not long after moving and found a home as a non-binary gender fluid activist.  They raised their three daughters just over th ehill in Lafayette and live with their life partner, a jazz musician you can sometimes hear play at concerts here at Rossmoor.  They are a retired high school teacher and are active in Buddhist and Jewish groups in the area.  They love to play bocce, cook, dance and meditate.
